Open Work Permit
In general, open work permit allows an individual to work for any employer in any profession except for the regulated professions that require a license. The following are some of the categories of people eligible for an open work permit. NOTE: The list is not exhaustive.
International students upon graduation (PGWP) from an eligible program at a DLI
Spouse/common-law partners of International Students or Work permit holders in Canada
Refugee Claimants or their family members
Employer Specific Work Permit
This type of work permit is tied up with a specific employer or Job and are issued after a thorough processing on employer's behalf after obtaining a positive or neutral Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
